Being the bestPosted: June 17, 2012
The Prophet, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam, said:
The best of you is the one who learns the Qur’aan and teaches it.
We’ve all wanted to be the best. Our lives have been one big struggle to be the best in school, sports, and within our communities. We’ve all wanted to be the favorite son or daughter, and to be accepted by our friends and relatives. We sought grandness and endeavored to be the best at something. Yet, life offered no sanctities because most of our pursuits have always been worldly, and its recognitions vanished as hastily as the wind. Hence, being considered the ’best’ by Allah is what matters at the end, even if we’re overlooked by the masses. It wouldn’t make any sense to waste our time and energy into this world, and thereby, get nothing in return. Let us dedicate our efforts to a cause that is far more superior and profitable. It’s the way of the Qur’an…
With sincerity and effort we can attain this rank - ensha’allah. Undergo an initiative today to be one who recites, memorizes, practices, and teaches it. Take it as your closest companion and your dearest benefactor. Let it always be with you in anguish and joy. Recite it and live it. Enjoy the fruits it offers, and strengthen your relationship with Allah. The Qur’an will become an intercession for us on on the day of Judgment like a cloud protecting its reciters. The Prophet (SAW) said: “Read the Qur’aan. For verily it will come forth on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its readers.” [Muslim]
It’s now a matter of working at being the best..
