Your Wife, Your Jewel

Our complete obedience lies to Allah, and the message which was brought by his final Messenger. Hence, everything the Prophet, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam, did was meant to be a lesson for us, and one we should follow wholeheartedly.
The Prophet, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam, was the best to his family and he ordered all husbands/fathers to be kind to their families.
The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family. [Tirmidhi, Sahih]
He was the most kind and loving husband we know of. When asked who was the most beloved person to him…who did he say it was? Yes, it was his wife, Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her. How many of us are embarrassed to say that today? Can your wife be your best-friend and the most loved person to you?? Without a doubt, she should be. For she has no one but you, and your mercy and gentleness is what she seeks and prays for…it’s her ultimate happiness on earth.
Today, things have changed enormously. A person’s home, including his wife and children, are far less important than his own life. His friends, his activities, and his ‘fun’ takes precedence over his family…and his wife! He can’t fathom the amount of reward he can get by taking care of his wife! Even some of our practicing brothers who make it their life cause to bring victory to Allah and yet abandon their own family? How will victory come this way?
Instead, a man, a real man, should be caring to his wife. He should protect her and tend to her needs. He should talk to her, encourage her to draw closer to Allah, and be a great example of this deen in his manners. Toughness is not how many times you can order her around to make your meals..but its with your leniency towards her. That’s a true reflection of manliness…right?!
So, let’s start a new chapter today and build that bond and relationship that is apparent in the Sunanh. Let’s be like him and let’s follow his lead, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam. Grow with everday Allah gives you and better yourself.
It is only a matter of days when your wife, your jewel...when both of you will be separated until you meet again in Jannah – ensha’allah.
